So Miss Strawberry Singh has started her Monday Meme’s again which is very exciting. I always try and participate in a few a month when I can, and this Monday she’s issuing a challenge to take a Second Life yearbook photo. It’s fun looking through all the different yearbook photos in the flickr group she created. Every avatar has such different personalities. I really love seeing everyone’s smiling pixel faces!
So here is mine, in all it’s freckled glory! I totally look like the class dork.

I finally am getting around to doing another one of Strawberry Singh’s Memes. This time I’m going to do her Introspection Meme. I’m feeling a little bit more thoughtful and serious than normal, so now was better than ever.
1. Regardless of your current number, how old do you actually feel?
I turn twenty eight this upcoming Tuesday, and while I’m dreading the fleeting end to my twenties, I feel much older. I tend to relate to people who are much older than myself. My best friend is quite a bit older than I am, and even my coworkers I relate to best, are the ones with a significant age increase. Even when I’m home with my family up north, I tend to spend time with my parents and their friends instead of people my own age.
2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
That depends. If we are talking about sky diving, than no offense, but I think I’d rather never try, than fail and fall to my death! LOL! I think this also goes for drug use. I really don’t want to fail and overdose. Say though, we are talking about love, or a friendship, or something on the emotional side of things. I will always try, even if it does lead to failure or heartache.
3. If the average human life span was 40 years, How would you live your life differently?
I would go on more adventures. See more things. Do more things. I’d also probably buy far fewer beauty products, and not care so much about the impending fine lines and wrinkles.
4. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
Doing the right things. For sure. Also, this question sort of confuses me. LOL.
5. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
A joyful simpleton. I am a firm believer in ignorance is bliss. At least with some things. A good example is, I’m completely happy with my simple joyful life, until I get on Facebook and see what everyone else is doing with their lives. People buying houses, or starting families, or doing BIG things, and then I start to feel worried that I’m doing things too slowly, or I’m missing out on things. So, I rather be simple, and joyful, and ignorantly blissful.
6. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
No. Not at all. I’m ashamed of it really. I live in my own little bubble, and I am tremendously horrible at reaching out to those around me. If you call out to me, I’ll listen, and if you approach me, I’m a good friend. I’m just not the type to reach out first unfortunately. It’s something I should challenge myself to work on. Especially in SL.
7. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
I went through a really horrible break up many many years back. I thought I was dying. I truly thought my heart was going to be ripped from my body and I was going to not live through it. It was a kind of pain I’d never experienced. Now, I look back, and see the man who broke my heart, and realize that I am so much better in the place I’m at now, and that I never needed him in the first place. I don’t even think about him, or miss him any longer at all. So to all of you out there who have been extremely upset or heartbroken recently…don’t let it defeat you, and do not give up. I promise you, one day you are going to look back and think… Why did I even shed a solitary tear over that person?
8. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
A guy recently at work noticed the sweatshirt I had on, and the college I went to. He said he was impressed and that the college was a fantastic school. It really made me feel proud & accomplished to know that I worked hard to graduate from such a great school.
9. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
No. I love my job. I work with animals on a daily basis, and I see the good that my line of work does. I see happy things, and horribly heartbreaking things, but I know that each and every animal that walks through the doors either leaves better than when they came in, or no longer suffers. Why would I want to leave from something so good? I love contributing to my job. A million dollars would just allow me to go on greater vacations, give more to what I’m passionate about (animals!), and know I’m going to retire a little more comfortably.
10. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
I don’t think I’d visit anyone to be honest. I think it would be too painful. I think I would send each person a letter/email (I guess email since they only have 24 hours left), just letting them know how much I love them and why I’ve appreciated them so much. That way I reach more people in a shorter amount of time. Hmm…did I cheat on this question then?
11. What do you feel is the difference between being alive and truly living?
I think truly living is when you are contributing to the greater good of something, and making that be something you love and have passion for. For me, it’s animals, so I’ve tried hard to surround myself with a job, and a life that benefits the creatures I inhabit this earth with. It makes me feel like I’m living with a purpose.
12. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
I think the fear of the unknown can paralyze us. I know it does for me.
13. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I’d walk around with no pants on. All the time.
14. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Try your hardest to be kind to everyone, and don’t let your bad experiences & your scars turn you into a cold and hateful person.

I don’t often enter too many contests, but when I heard about The Loft Home Tour Contest, I knew it was an opportunity I simply could not pass up. The Loft has been a long time favorite store, and a staple on the Second Life Grid for what feels like ages. They have some of the highest quality designs, as well as some of the most realistic. I am, and always will be, a huge fan of The Loft.
I had a wonderful time decorating this house. It is the first house in a long time that I actually finished, down to the last detail. I’m proud of it. So so proud of it. I walk in, and the place just feels like home, and I take pride in letting people wander around and check out the details.
I hope that if you do stop by, you make yourself at home. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, a freshly baked cookie, and turn on the stream, because some cheerful Holiday tunes are echoing off the walls of this cozy winter home. Don’t mind Peanut my Great Dane. He’s harmless, and the only thing he’ll do is try and steal a bite of one of your cookies. Oh, and also…the house looks the best (in my own humble opinion) on the standard midnight windlight setting. There is just something about curling up by a fire in the wintertime darkness that is soothing and filled with comfort.
The contest has some absolutely fantastic entries, and I urge you to stop by and check each and every one of them out. Here is a list of the houses! You can tour them from now through December 7th, when they will announce the lucky winners.
Harlow Heslop (oh hey! That’s me!)
I hope you enjoy checking out all the great homes! I certainly enjoyed checking them out, and I think i’ll be making a second trip around to see them all before they aren’t on tour any longer! I’ll admit though…it feels so ODD wondering around other peoples houses! LOL.
If you have any questions on where ANYTHING is from at my house don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m so happy to share all the cozy details with you.
So I didn’t have any real purpose for blogging this photograph, but when I saw that Strawberry Singh was doing her Monday Meme I figured I’d go ahead and participate and share the pic! The pic was a BLATANT copy of the talented Magenta DeVinna’s photo she shared on flickr. Like seriously y’all. Blatant. Copy. I can’t even justify it. I just loved the pic so much, and the collar so much that I knew I had to replicate it. (The collar is from here btw.)
I’m seriously original aren’t I?
So today’s meme was Best & Worst Meme:
“Meme Instructions: Copy and paste the questions and answers below, delete my answers and input your own. The twist is, the final question you need to change and make up your own best & worst that you want to share. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post in the comments.” – Strawberry Singh
- Best thing about Second Life: It’s constantly evolving and changing. It keeps me interested and intrigued.
Worst thing about Second Life: Lag. Lag. Lag.
- Best thing in your inventory: My endless home collection. I LOVE SL homes & architecture!
Worst thing in your inventory: Probably also, my endless home collection. If you only knew the amount of money spent.
- Best earliest SL memory: The giddy “new” feeling I had every single time I logged on. It was a rush of excitement.
Worst earliest SL memory: Getting my heart broken and finding out the guy was cheating on me with a stripper wearing bling. For real y’all. For real.
- Best thing you learned because of SL: That there are truly wonderful, amazing, kind, awesome, people all over the world.
Worst thing you learned because of SL: That there are also people that suck. A lot.
- Best thing about blogging: All the free shit I get. (okay okay, I’m KIDDING. I really like being creative, and the chance to better my photography/photoshop skills.)
Worst thing about blogging: How easily my inventory turns to shambles. Seriously. It was so pretty a few days ago…and now… once again. Shambles.
- Best TV show I’m addicted to: Parenthood. (Classy. Awesome. Great show.) Worst TV Show I’m addicted to: E! Reality shows. Seriously total crap. But seriously addicting.
