I had a really lengthy post prepared to go along with this image today. I had wanted to share a story about a friend of mine who recently was the victim of unprovoked bullying. I wanted to tell you all about how I didn’t take a strong enough stand at first. I brushed off the incident, and continued to allow a bully to be a part of my life. I allowed a valued friend to be hurt by someone’s words & actions. It took a second incident by the same person for me to realize that, what they were doing was not okay. It took countless others coming forward and saying “Oh they did this to other people too.” for me to finally remove the person from my life. How I reacted was not okay. We cannot remain silent. We must take a stand against bullying, and ensure that people realize that their words can be the most lethal of weapons. We cannot be afraid. I was afraid, and now I’m ashamed. I let my friend down, and anyone else who has been bullied, because I continued to remain silent.
If we continue to be afraid to stand up against bullying, then we will continue to watch thousands of students each and every year miss out on a valued education because they skip school to avoid bullies. We will continue to watch many of our youth (and adults too) commit suicide because of bullying. We will continue to watch cyber bullying incidents rise at dramatic rates each and every year. These are only a few facts out of hundreds. The vicious cycle will go on…and on…and on.
It’s National Anti Bullying Week. (the 16th through the 20th). My dear friend Cate Footman is encouraging Second Lifers to take a stand against bullying and “Break the Silence”. Share an anti-bullying inspired image, to encourage others to be aware of bullying not only in our real lives but also in our second lives too.
Hi folks! I am moving in real life into my very 1st home that my hubby and I purchased. Due to this, I will be gone the next few weeks. We have a bad temporary internet connection where we are staying temporarily, and then it will take me a while to move into the new home, get unpacked and settled, and then get a good internet connection set up again. I look forward to being back sometime in May! Thank you for your patience, well wishes, and understanding! Love and hugs to each of you! <3
So, a special time in my life is coming up…
I am getting married on 10-12-14.
I am so…
Excited. Nervous. Giddy. Stressed. Elated. Blessed. Busy. Etc…
I know it’s a little way off, but I have a lot of final preparations, and real life is going to be frantic, but wonderful over the next month. I have so much to get done, that I know I have to put a lot of my Second Life activities on the back burner, at least until real life calms down again. For the next month I will be going on a blogging break. I’m going to miss out on showing you so many wonderful things, but I know there are countless other bloggers that will get the job done exceptionally well (and usually far better than myself anyhow!).
I will also be disabling most of my social media accounts relatively soon as well, as I want no distractions during my wedding and honeymoon!
I will miss you all.
Sending hugs and love…and I’ll see you sometime in late October.

Strawberry Singh has done another fun meme, and this time we are getting a bit personal! I had a lot of fun going through and answering these questions. You should all join in the fun and do it as well!
1. When and how did you discover Second Life?
I discovered Second Life in January of 2007 (on my first avatar). I was playing The Sims at the time, and was curious if there was a live version of SL. I googled…and the rest was history!
2. Did you know about virtual worlds before or was this your first experience with them?
Just The Sims! I think IMVU was starting to become sorta known at the time too?
3. Has Second Life met your expectations?
That and more I think. I never expected to be here this long, or do the things I’ve done here. I feel very fortunate/blessed that my fun here has led to so much.
4. If you could teleport back to the first ten minutes of your avatar’s slife, what would you tell yourself?
Don’t trust the sleazy dude who wants to show you how to make “easy money”.
5. How long did it take you to master avatar flying and driving vehicles inworld?
I think I picked up on everything really quickly. Which is a little surprising! I tend to be really uncoordinated/slow in other gaming platforms. SL for some reason just came naturally to me.
6. Do you have a mystery alt?
I have a handful of alts, but I have always said who I am. I had one that I really tried hard recently to use as an alt to wander around privately and just find quiet time, but I ended up telling everyone about her too. I don’t have a very good “poker face” when it comes to keeping secret alts I guess!
7. Is your SL avatar a reflection of you, or someone you wished you could be?
Harlow is very much who I am in RL… except with red hair, and a lot shorter! As for her personality, she is who I am through and through.
8. Is there an individual you met in SL that inspired you in your RL? How?
I’ve met quite a few people who have inspired my RL. A few friendships, and of course my RL fiance Ark, who I met in Second Life. He has inspired great potential in me since Day 1.
9. Do you feel it is easier to create stronger bonds/relationships with people you meet inworld as opposed to the real world?
I think you can create some absolutely incredible, undeniable bonds here, with people that you may not necessarily bond as closely with in real life, or given a chance in real life. Second Life creates a place where even the most opposite of people can become close. When you have just your words to get to know someone and you don’t judge someone based on appearances/status, it’s amazing the kind of bonds you can create. It has really inspired me to reach out to more people in my real life. People that I wouldn’t have expected to become friends with, and really see them for who they are on the inside and out. Not that I was a shallow person before, I just think that words can be a powerful tool, and can create some unbreakable bonds. I know that some of my closest friendships have come from Second Life, and will be life lasting.
10. Did you ever imagine or believe people could fall in love with someone they never met before Second Life?
It’s quite common. I don’t think that it’s a faux kind of love either. I genuinely believe real emotions can develop here. I know they have for me a few times.
11. How has your perspective of dating changed (or not) since you started playing second life?
I think I’ve realized that relationships don’t fit into a specific box. I thought I had a specific type, a specific age, etc…that I wanted to date, and only that type/age/personality was who I wanted to be with. Second Life has opened my eyes and heart to so much more than just that. I’ve been in love a few times here, or what I thought was love, and it really just helped me grow as a person in so many ways.
12. How has your perspective of employment changed (or not) since you started playing second life?
I am so impressed by those who self sustain through their Second Life talents/creations. It’s extremely impressive and I think it’s underrated. People don’t realize how many talented individuals there are in Second Life, and how many amazing job opportunities present themselves through our virtual environment here. It’s a place of endless creative freedom and opportunity.
13. Name three things in both your lives that overlap each other significantly.
Tough question! Socialization for sure. I’ve actually met many SLers in RL, and all have been really great experiences. Photoshop. LOL. I use it for both RL and SL pics. And umm…. how about my RL relationship. Ark and I totally overlap from SL to RL.
14. If you could live your life more immersively in a virtual world, would you? (Kind of like the Matrix)
I think temporarily it would be kind of neat, but I try and have a healthy balance between RL and SL. I have so been there many times when I’ve spent WAY too much time online. I still have my moments, but I’m trying to actually be on here less than I used to be.
15. How do you think behavior changes for people if they’re inworld vs in real world? Why do you think that is?
I always say, that it’s a challenge to be kind online, and that people have to work to do it, and I truly believe that. You have to work to be kind, and gracious, and selfless here. It’s not easy. It’s so much easier to be selfish, impatient, and rude here, because you can hide behind an avatar name, and a computer screen. But, in a more positive aspect, I think people can be more “real” here in the way that they open up more and show more of their true colors, which can be a beautiful thing….if they are still kind.
16. How has second life consumerism changed your perception of spending habits, the value of money, the need to be “bleeding edge” with fashion?
I’m not sure I’m very “bleeding edge” with fashion to begin with. I kind of just wear what I like, and what’s comfortable. Ironically I do the same in Second Life. As for money? I suck at money management in my RL, but in Second Life, ironically I’m quite decent about it. I do like to spend though! Look at all the creation around us. How can I NOT spend?
17. Do you think virtual worlds like SL drive and redefine human interaction or do they narrow and limit it?
I think it both isolates and redefines in negative and positive ways. I think we interact, like I mentioned above, with people we may not necessarily interact with in our RL’s. We open our minds and hearts, as well as our conversations to more people around us through these environments. I think we also, if we aren’t careful, can isolate ourselves in a dangerous way from the real world. Have you ever looked around in a crowded restaurant at tables filled with people. And at all of those tables everyone is on their self phones, glaring downward into the glowing screen, and clueless to the world around them, including their own families at the same table? (Yes i’m just as much a guilty party of this as the rest of us!). I think SL, virtual worlds, and technology/social networking as a whole can really narrow and limit our human interaction. Which is so ironic, since we are all trying so hard to be social on these platforms.
18. If technology progressed tomorrow to allow you to send emotions to people the way you’d send text or voice messages, would it enrich your SL experience or infringe on it?
I feel like when we hit that point it’s probably time for me to get off Second Life. LOL!
19. Name three skills you attribute to having learned or honed in second life alone.
I feel like I’ve learned a bit about real estate & being a landlord. I’ve learned better Photoshop skills. I have learned to be better in social situations, especially when traveling in RL to meet SLers who I’ve never met in RL before. It’s a nerve wracking experience, but after a few times you really start becoming more comfortable with meeting new people. It’s a really neat thing!
20. If your grand kids googled your Second Life Avatar’s name, would they be intrigued, disgusted, proud or something else?
Let me take down the random few naked photos before that happens okay? Hey…they were for art! I swear!

Just to give you a rough idea of how busy I have been…
I’m doing my Valentine’s Day post two days after Valentine’s Day.
Pretty horrible right?
The good news is, when I’ve had time to play around with my blog and Photoshop I’ve been having a great deal of fun. I have been using the new Adobe Photoshop CS6, and some of the new features, as well as the interface, are to die for! I’ve especially had a lot of fun playing around with the new blur tools available. It really adds a little extra OOMPH! to my pics. I strongly recommend checking out the subscription offer Adobe is offering for those who are interested in getting CS6, but not interested in the hefty price tag. It’s well worth the monthly fee if you use Photoshop on a daily basis like I do.
I have to give a big shout out to my Valentine for being apart of this post. Arkansas Sorbet, I could not ask for a better Valentine. You are loyal, kind, and understanding. You have the world’s most challenging, spoiled, and difficult woman. God has truly blessed me with a remarkable man. I’m beyond fortunate. Thank you for everything you do for me, and for loving me unconditionally through good and bad. You see past my flaws, and my faults, and somehow manage to see a perfect woman in the tangled mess that I display. I am given so much, and you expect so little in return. You are the definition of a true man, and I am the luckiest girl in the world.
