So, The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse has a brand new home.
Our last wonderful home on Sunshine Mist, was home for us for over two solid years and was some of the best memories of The Bean to date. After over two years on the sim, it was time for some changes. I have, what I considered “downsized” our cafe a bit. We have indeed moved to our very own sim, a homestead sim (which fills a capacity of 20 people at a time), and we plan to have more intimate gatherings and not as many large scale events. Our focus will be quality conversation in small settings, and little events to spark your curiosity and fun.
Don’t worry, I do plan to still do some larger events in Second Life, including everyone’s favorite annual Prom, but we will not host those events directly at The Pixel Bean (and quite honestly I don’t think we have in a few years used the actual cafe location for our huge events like that).
I hope you stop by and check out The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse and enjoy the rest of the sim as well (which will be a work in progress). As usual, thank you for your support with my “baby” here in Second Life. We’ve been around since 2009, and we are still going as strong as ever.
This weekend I took some time to do some sprucing up of the landscaping around The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse. We’ve made the plot much more wooded, private, and serene. Stop by and check out the tranquil little pond, with it’s little sitting area on the dock. The bonfire area has been tidied up and redone as well, offering a great place to gather with friends or loved ones for an evening in the woods. I’m still adding small little items here, and there, to make the area look more complete, but as usual it’s open to the public, so feel free to stop on in and grab a cup of coffee.
We have plans to get more events started back up at The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse in the near future, so be looking out for those as well!
As some of you may, or may not know, I just recently on Saturday night acquired a full 15,000 prim sim! I’m in the process of creating a beautiful home for The Pixel Bean, as well as some residential plots. The residential community is called The Grounds, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Right now we have a total of 7 plots, with one that is currently vacant. It holds 600 prims. If anyone is interested, please let me know, as it will be snatched up very quickly. All six of our other plots filled very swiftly!
Some of the sim features include a beautiful central lake with a lovely dock for the public and community residents to make use of. Residents, also known as The Grounds “Dwellers” can throw parties and events on the sim. I’m hopefully going to start planning a lake party soon! The sim also features beautiful scenic walking paths, The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse, bonfire, smaller little pond for a place to relax, etc… Each home plot also features a beautiful wooden front gate and wall to give the lots a more private and secluded feel.
I’m still in the process of setting the sim up so right now there are some bare spots that need to be landscaped. The public is very welcome to visit the sim and make use of it for photos and such, I just ask that you keep to the public pathways, the dock, or The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse. The residential plots are private residences!
I really don’t know what I’d do without my best friend, Mr. Remy Stringfellow. He is one of the few people who keep me sane when I’m being an obsessed workaholic. I have been working nonstop on the sim the last few days. Endless hours, planning, and dedication, as I try to get it “move in ready”. Last night he slowed me down for a few to drink milkshakes, and relax. It was certainly a great time, and a much needed break from the chaos. This adorable set comes from What Next. It comes in a few vibrant colors and has the BEST poses and animations in it. Perfect for friends or lovers. I certainly recommend stopping by What Next and checking it out. The little tea light candles are a perfect accent to these little cafe tables.
Thank you again Mr. Stringfellow for reminding me what’s important in this virtual life, and keeping me grounded when I’m flying all over the place. There is a reason I call you my very best friend.
As many of you know around a month ago, my cafe, The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse, had to temporarily close due to some unexpected sim changes. If you’ve been a regular at the coffeehouse, or honestly just been paying attention you know that this was one of many changes that my venue has gone through in the past 9 months or so. Numerous sim changes & build designs, as well as countless frustrations and moments of elation have been all too familiar guests to my coffeehouse. It has experienced nearly every facet of being a part of the Second Life community and life on the grid. Not to mention, in that nine months my drive, dedication, and love towards my own venue began to slowly drift away. I’ve learned a lot in the past nine months, and because of that I truly believe The Pixel Bean is in a major stage of growth as well, and soon enough will be better than ever.
We are officially back open, and in my (not so) humble opinion the best we have ever been. We are now located on a single parcel, and 2800 meters high up in the sky in a cozy little globe. (It’s from the store Turnip’s and it’s absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it.) It is the perfect little 100 x 100 meter size, with enough space to run around and play, but not so much space that the place feels overwhelming.
The parcel boasts the cozy cafe with a bar area, as well as a big room filled with a little stage, and plenty of places to curl up and relax. Truthball & Greedy can both be found inside the cafe as well. Outside our doors you will find a kid friendly playground that it seems the adults have been having more fun climbing on than the kids! Across a field of flowers from our playground you will find our infamous bonfire. I say infamous because The Pixel Bean in it’s entire existence of over two years has always had a campfire for people to enjoy. Often times we host our poetry nights here. On occasion I plan on also doing old time radio shows at our campfire. If you venture up back towards the coffeehouse, you will find our little koi pond and a deck to hang out on.
The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse plans on having an assortment of activities once again including live concerts, DJ events, poetry nights, games, some contests, and more. Most of all it will continue to be a safe haven for anyone and all to come and meet others. It is a place on the grid that welcomes literally anyone, from all walks of life.
I have been absolutely blown away by the outpouring of love and support for this humble little coffeehouse. The Second Life community has always made it feel so welcomed and have shown nothing but love and affection towards it. I feel very honored to be able to bring such a place to life, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse.
Hey everybody. I hope you’ve had a great week so far. Mine has been a world of changes, but with every change comes a silver lining eh? I have a few things to post about today. First off being the closing of Noel & I’s store Honey, I’m Home! I know it’s been a short few months since we opened, and we had very high hopes for this store, and also very quick success. What a blessing that has been. Unfortunately, due to RL obligations, tier costs, and a struggle to coordinate our personal agendas/schedules we’ve decided to close up shop. It has been so much fun, and we thank each of you who have loved and supported our store. I hope you enjoy the few houses we have released and continue to make them your homes here in Second Life. All homes will be 50% off until February 5th. At that point, our doors will close indefinitely and the homes will not be for sale ever again. Here is your taxi!
Onto my next piece of news, which I have a pretty heavy heart over as well. I will be temporarily closing the doors of my coffeehouse The Pixel Bean. More than likely down the road I will reopen so I am emphasizing that this is a temporary close and not necessarily a permanent one. There are a variety of reasons I am doing this, but with the sim tier being too high to cover for the coffeehouse, I felt it was a good time to just take a break from everything. I’ve had the coffeehouse for over two years, and it has been my pride and joy here in Second Life. My entire heart has been within the walls of that cafe for so long and I have simply reached a point where it isn’t any fun right now. If you know me, you know my dedication to the cafe has dwindled quite a bit and I tend to spend more time away from it than within it. The constant worry of covering the cost of it, the urge to do events, etc… I just need a vacation within Second Life. I need to enjoy myself. Be more social. I have neglected so much of myself in that regard.
While we are closed I strongly recommend people visit Folly. It is operated by a few close friends of mine who have shown me immense love and support with my own cafe over the years, and I want to make sure I do that in return. The Pixel Bean’s poetry nights will be hosted here now, and it will be a place I frequent often. I hope this makes all the Beanies feel a little less homeless in this odd/sudden transition. Also, Prom on February 11th will still take place! No worries there!
I really do hope to eventually open my doors to my cafe again. The group will stay open, and time will tell. I just need to do my own thing for a while. Thank you again for all the love and support you’ve shown The Pixel Bean over the last few years. It has been a fun journey.
Okay enough of the sad talk. Let’s quickly talk about what I’m wearing. I did a little retail therapy yesterday. I bought a new mesh top from Celoe which I just love. How cute is this? I’m also rocking the new elikatira hair, which is also mesh. I swear mesh just continues to get better and better. The rest of my items you’ve seen a bajillion times on the blog. I’m once again being a lazy blogger. Forgive me. Tomorrow I will get back on track!
