Avatars for Animals: The Catnip Carnival Fund Results

First, and foremost I want to send a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event.  Thank you to the designers for their hard work, talents and dedication.  Thank you to the bloggers who took the time to promote the event, and thank you of course to the consumers who spent so many lindens supporting a wonderful cause.

The shelter was absolutely blown away by the final total.  Would you like to know what that final total was?

1,739.24 USD.

We also received a cash donation of 100 dollars personally/directly from SL residents veaudeau & bl1ndmag.  This brought our final total to 1,839.24, and the 100 dollars was given to the shelter manager directly in person by myself. Thank you kindly for the additional donation you two!

Isn’t that incredible?  Every single penny will go to such an amazing cause, and help change the lives of so many wonderful, needy animals.

I wanted to make sure I provided you all with very specific screenshots detailing every single detail of the process of transferring the funds from Second Life, to Paypal, and then to the shelter.  I did not want any confusion or discrepancy, and I wanted everyone to see clearly where the funds appropriately went. I think, especially in a virtual world like Second Life, it is incredibly important to provide the community with clear proof that the funds have gone to their appropriate venue.  If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can also put you in contact with a shelter representative if you want even further proof.  I do hope, that this will be enough!  Please understand, I have blacked out my own personal real life information, as to keep my personal real life private.  I tried to keep as much public as possible.

Step 1: This was the final item purchase at the event.  I made sure to note dates, etc, so everything is chronological.  Truth was kind enough to put his item out at his store as well, which helped generate a boost in funds! Thank you Mr. Hawks!

Step 2: I then emptied my own personal lindens into my PixelBean business account. Yes…a whopping 145 lindens.  I wanted to show clear proof that there was no mixup between my own lindens, and the fund lindens.  I was not fond about putting the final total on my own personal account, but due to transfer limitations I was forced to transfer everything to my own account to transfer out of Second Life and into paypal.  Harlow’s account had zero lindens, and I then transferred the total funds from Avatars4Animals to Harlow Heslop.

Step 3: I then immediately offered to sell the lindens. I chose the quickest option rate I could, as to make sure the funds were transferred promptly and there was little delay.

Step 4: Here is my LindeX order summary confirmation.

Step 5: Here is the second screenshot for the confirmation.

Step 6: I then processed the credit to my own personal Paypal account. I have blocked my real life email address here.

Step 7:  Here are the transaction details. Again, I have blocked out RL personal data.

Step 8: After a few days the funds finally showed up in my own personal PayPal account.  You know the RL information blocking stuff by now… ;)

Step 9: I then put all the information in to transfer the funds to the RCHS paypal account.  I found the link via their official website.

Step 10: Here is the confirmation page to transfer the funds.

Step 11: Hooray the funds have made it to the shelter’s paypal! Here’s the confirmation.

Step 12: Here is the final balance shot of my own personal paypal account. Just a final confirmation for you all that the funds did go to the appropriate place.

I know this is overly detailed, and seems a bit (or a lot!) overkill but I wanted to make sure I was very clear on fund transparency as I promised.  If anyone is still skeptical or uncertain I’m very happy to take an additional step and receive a paper receipt from the shelter staff, and can also provide contact info to speak with the shelter directly for anyone who feels the need to take it that far!

Thank you again for all the support you have shown Avatars for Animals first event, The Catnip Carnival.  I am very optimistic about other events taking place in the future!

Blog the Beat #1: Mirrors

Mirrors by Justin Timberlake

 Aren’t you somethin’ to admire?
Cause your shine is somethin’ like a mirror
And I can’t help but notice
You reflect in this heart of mine
If you ever feel alone and
The glare makes me hard to find
Just know that I’m always
Parallel on the other side

Cause with your hand in my hand and a pocket full of soul
I can tell you there’s no place we couldn’t go
Just put your hand on the glass
I’ll be tryin’ to pull you through
You just gotta be strong

‘Cause I don’t wanna lose you now
I’m lookin’ right at the other half of me
The vacancy that sat in my heart
Is a space that now you hold
Show me how to fight for now
And I’ll tell you, baby, it was easy
Comin’ back here to you once I figured it out
You were right here all along

It’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me
I couldn’t get any bigger
With anyone else beside of me
And now it’s clear as this promise
That we’re making
Two reflections into one
Cause it’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me, staring back at me

Aren’t you somethin’, an original
Cause it doesn’t seem merely a sample
And I can’t help but stare, cause
I see truth somewhere in your eyes
I can’t ever change without you
You reflect me, I love that about you
And if I could, I
Would look at us all the time

Cause with your hand in my hand and a pocket full of soul
I can tell you there’s no place we couldn’t go
Just put your hand on the glass
I’ll be tryin’ to pull you through
You just gotta be strong

‘Cause I don’t wanna lose you now
I’m lookin’ right at the other half of me
The vacancy that sat in my heart
Is a space that now you hold
Show me how to fight for now
And I’ll tell you, baby, it was easy
Comin’ back here to you once I figured it out
You were right here all along

It’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me
I couldn’t get any bigger
With anyone else beside of me
And now it’s clear as this promise
That we’re making
Two reflections into one
Cause it’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me, staring back at me

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow’s a mystery
I can see you lookin’ back at me
Keep your eyes on me
Baby, keep your eyes on me

‘Cause I don’t wanna lose you now
I’m lookin’ right at the other half of me
The vacancy that sat in my heart
Is a space that now you hold
Show me how to fight for now (please show me, baby)
I’ll tell you, baby, it was easy
Comin’ back here to you once I figured it out
You were right here all along

It’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me
I couldn’t get any bigger
With anyone else beside of me
And now it’s clear as this promise
That we’re making
Two reflections into one
Cause it’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me, staring back at me

You are, you are the love of my life.

Now you’re the inspiration for this precious song
And I just wanna see your face light up since you put me on
So now I say goodbye to the old me, so better gone
And I can’t wait wait wait wait wait to get you home
Just to let you know, you are

You are, you are the love of my life.

Girl you’re my reflection, all I see is you
My reflection, in everything I do
You’re my reflection and all I see is you
My reflection, in everything I do

Blog the Beat: A Weekly Musical Blog Challenge

I’ve been in need of a push artistically with my own blogging on a personal level.  I thought long and hard on it, and tried to figure out something that I felt would push me to strive to be a better blogger, as well as a better artist.  I tried also think of other things in my life that I feel are important to me, and the first thing I thought of was music.  After thinking on it, I came up with a weekly blogging challenge, that I’m starting, and openly inviting anyone else who would like to join me.  Let me tell you about…

Blog the Beat: A Weekly Musical Challenge.

* Each week I will post one song & the lyrics to the song.  This song can be any music genre, happy, or sad.  I will try hard to pick a variety of songs, new and old.

* I will then make a SINGLE artistic blog image that I feel personally reflects the song through my own eyes.

* Each week I will openly invite others to blog the SAME SONG & lyrics in their own unique way.

* Ask yourself while listening to the song and reviewing the lyrics.  How does the song make you feel?  What specific lyrics do you take from the song and hold close to your heart? What colors, tones, and items do you plan on using to showcase the song in your own beautiful way?

* When you’ve completed that week’s challenge add it to The Blog the Beat Flickr Group for others to enjoy as well.

* Feel free to join in weekly, or on random occasion.  Don’t let this blogger challenge stress you out, but use it as a way to de-stress, and as an opportunity to do something different on your blog occasionally. Express your artistic creative freedom through the art of music.

* Feel free to incorporate fashion, home and garden, or anything else you are in need of blogging in your post.  That way you are still accomplishing your reviewing, but also enjoying yourself artistically!

I have created a “Blog the Beat” category on my blog so that you can find past musical posts with ease!  I will be posting our first challenge soon! I can’t wait to see others join in, and what they come up with for their posts!

Happy blogging. <3

Avatars for Animals

I’m really excited to tell you all about a small little side project I’ve started.  I’ve spoken about it publicly via flickr & plurk, but I’ve not had the chance to blog about it!

I’ve started a small little group in world called Avatars for Animals.  My inspiration for this group started when I really started to look around the Second Life community and realized we had countless amazing charity organizations and groups in world, but very little for our animal friends.  Working for a vet in my real life, I understand the need for animal charity, and the incredible power it can have when people come together to help a furry (or feathered…scaly…etc…) friend.  The smallest act of kindness and charity can change the life of an animal for good.

Avatars for Animals main goal is to focus on small, underfunded shelters and welfare groups.  That tiny back road humane society with very little pocket change, but an endless number of needy paws and hungry mouths.  A small shelter, that’s overcrowded, and understaffed.  The places that even a little bit of pocket change means the world to.  These are our main focus.

PS. Our logo was done by the amazing Mr. LiquidHell Carter.  He is pretty brilliant. If you are in need of a logo, he’s your man. Seriously.

Our first project, The Catnip Carnival, is focusing in on a small, no kill cat shelter in Louisiana, USA.  The shelter is called River Cities Humane Society for Cats.  I chose this shelter for a few reasons.  I’ve seen the work this shelter has done on a personal level, and I understand their need for help.  They are a nonprofit shelter who live solely off of charitable donations, fundraisers, etc… I’ve also had the opportunity to travel to this shelter and adopt one of my own feline companions from there.  I wanted our first project to be a place I could trust, and a place I know needed every bit of help they could get.  If you’d like more information on the shelter please visit the link I provided above, or check out their wonderful facebook page.

The event will run from May 18th – May 26th. Here is a SLURL to the event!  We have ten incredible designers lined up to partake in our first event.  Those designers are Alouette, Adorkable Poses, Cae, Cheeky Pea, Fri.day, Gos Boutique, Izzie’s, Peqe, Pixel Mode, and Truth.  I am so incredibly grateful to have such a great team for this event.  After the event concludes and the funds have been transferred properly to the shelter, I will blog information on what was raised, and a receipt of payment from the shelter.

Keep posted on what’s to come! Looking forward to our first event!
