Resolutions

It’s that silly time of year when we all are itching for a fresh start in life.  A clean slate.  A new beginning. Blah blah blah…you know the drill…And you know what? I am ALWAYS such a sucker for it.  I LOVE New Years!  I love the idea of starting fresh, and I LOVE getting motivated to do so.

As you know in my last post I stated that I was going to be making some changes in my Second Life.  I haven’t blogged since Wednesday and it’s liberating.  Today I actually felt motivated and driven to work hard on a new post.  I thought maybe I’d share with you all my silly resolutions for 2013.

My 2013 Resolutions

1.) Drink more water.  I know it seems silly but I do not drink enough water.  My goal is the “mandatory” 8 full cups each day.  I even got an iphone app called Daily Water to help me keep track of my fluid intake.  I’m curious to see how much better I feel by drinking more water.

2.) Reach my goal weight.  I have a goal weight set in my mind.  It was my late high school/early college weight and it’s where I personally felt the best about myself.  I want to feel good about myself again, and I know for me personally this is a great way of getting there.  Last year I dropped over 15 lbs in a healthy way.  I was less than 10 lbs away from my goal and unfortunately this holiday season has let me creep back up the scale some.  This year? I’m reaching my goal!  I will be going about this in a healthy fashion by using the My Fitness Pal program.  If you are on it as well feel free to add me!  I’m “HarlowHeslop” on there!

3.  Keep a gratitude journal.  I’ve read that these awesome little journals are a great way to stay motivated and optimistic about your life.  I am typically a pretty optimistic and happy person, but the last six months or so I feel as if I’ve lost that light in my life.  This is just a small gesture in hopes of accomplishing a bigger goal.  December Dollinger mentioned the HappyTapper App for the iphone and I’m excited to try it out in 2013!

4.) Quality over Quantity.  This is my Second Life goal for my blog.  I spoke previously about this goal in my former post.  I really hope to accomplish this in a successful fashion this year.

These are just a few of my goals for 2013.  Do you have any resolutions you would like to share?  I’d be very interested in hearing about them!

Changes

With the New Year just around the corner, I’ve decided to make a few small adjustments within my Second Life & my blogging.  This past year of blogging, and being a part of the Second Life Community has been rewarding,  but also incredibly draining on me in numerous ways.  I started off blogging & being a part of the Second Life Community as a bright, and bubbly individual, and within the last few months, I’ve watched that naturally optimistic personality, and consistent bubbly nature I possess, slowly fade away.

To those of you who have noticed these negative changes in me, I apologize.  I’ve found myself being catty, grumpy, and overall negative towards not only countless people, but also countless things taking place in the community.  This is not me, or who I want to be.  It has always been my goal to make a positive impact in the community, and lately I’ve been more of a stormy rain cloud than anything else.  I guess we all have our moments eh?

I’ve had quite a few days to sit and ponder the reasons for this & after a lot of contemplation I’ve come to realize that Second Life, and blogging have turned into work for me.  I chalk it up to a new full time job in my real life taking most of my time, and also the growth my blog has experienced over the past year.  I am NOT complaining, nor am I trying to view any of this as a negative thing.  I’ve just come to realize that the pressures of making sure I blog every single item, and the pressures of blogging every single day are weighing on me in a negative way.

So enough of my pointless rambling.  The point I’m trying to make is that my blog will now focus more on quality over quantity.  When I make a new post I want to be putting my everything into it.  I want to take my time on the photographs, have the opportunity to be picky over what I show on my blog, and really focus my energy and time on doing posts that I LOVE instead of post I feel are necessary.

If you are a designer and you don’t feel I’m owning up to my obligations of blogging your items, please feel free to remove me from your groups.  You won’t see me throwing a public hissy fit over it, or looking at you in a negative way.  If you need a blogger who will blog every single item you create, than I am simply not your girl.

That being said, I am so appreciative of those who continually support me and trust me with the items they create.  I do hope to continue to showcase all sorts of beautiful items here in Second Life, I just may not be doing it at the speed some find reasonable.

I hope to really put a lot of love, effort, and work into this blog, but on my own accord. I want to be proud of what I show on here.  I don’t want to feel like my blogging is a chore, added work, or just another task to be completed.  I want it to be a reflection of the things I love here in the Second Life Community.

That being said, here our the credits for today’s post.  I especially encourage you to stop by What Next and pick up the limited edition copies of these adorable bicycles.  They even have one specifically for bloggers!

Peace

I wanted to leave you all a little note of well wishes for the Holiday Season.  I wish you all a wonderful, peaceful, safe, and fulfilling Holiday.  I hope you get to spend it with those you love, eat plenty of delicious food, and get everything you asked for on your wishlist.

I will be leaving around three in the morning to drive up to Indiana, to be with my family for Christmas.  It’s about a fifteen hour trek, but I’m really looking forward to being with those I love for Christmas.  I plan on taking a bit of a break from blogging, more than likely until after the New Year (let’s see if I stick to that!).

Until then….

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Street Light

There’s a great event taking place for a really wonderful cause!  Together for Sway is benefiting the lovely Sway Dench and her upcoming brain procedure.  She makes her living here in Second Life, and while she is recovering she will be unable to work in the Second Life Community.  To help keep Sway on her feet the community has come together in her honor.  Sway is someone in the community who makes a positive impact with her beautiful creations, and is always so kind and gracious towards those around her.  It’s time to give back and help Miss Dench out!

At the event this beautiful Lamp Post from Dutchie is available.  The pole comes in two versions Adult, and PG, and you can pick up the PG version at the benefit.  Let me tell you though… the adult version has some mighty fun poses in it. *winks*

Baiastice has released a variety of beautiful holiday formal wear that I encourage you to check out.  All three dresses available are perfect for holiday parties, and other various winter inspired events.  I just loved this long gown the best.  I really encourage you to stop by and check out Strawberry Singh’s post and coverage on these dresses.  She made them look so sparkly and beautiful in her photographs in a way that I would never be able to achieve. They are TRULY stunning, so check out her post!  I paired it with the newest Truth Hair release which I also found to be unique and beautifully made.

Once again I really encourage you to stop by the Together for Sway event.  You’ll be supporting an amazing woman, and helping her through a challenging time in her life.  What better way to help, than those in our Second Life Community!

Cozy

I apologize for my lack of blogging the last few days.  I unfortunately had to travel home to Indiana for a family member’s funeral.  I’m back now for a few days before heading back up there for Christmas, so hopefully in the next few days I can rock out a handful of new posts for you.

I think this is one of my favorite simple outfit’s I’ve thrown together recently.  These scarves can be picked up this month at The Dressing Room in three Christmas hues!  They and my adorable cozy sweater are both from Auxiliary, and the sweater is a new release at Collabor88 this month.  Also at Collabor88 you can find the pose from Marukin!  I paired the entire ensemble with two of my favorite things in my inventory, my “Little” hair from Magika & my Four Corner Readers from Mon Tissu.  These two items I wear quite often, and simply cannot get enough of either!

The nails I’m wearing are the newest release from Pixel Mode.  I spoke about this in a previous post, but wanted to mention them again.  They fit with ZERO re sizing whatsoever regardless of your hand size which…is..PERFECT!

I’ll leave it at that today. I hope y’all had a wonderful weekend. <3
